Entering an Exhibition/Show

Can anyone suugest the best way to matt a print for show/exhibition? I would like to perhaps enter a few next year and often read in their guidlines that matted prints should be no thicker than 4mm. Is it best to use black matt and some mounting foam or should I forget the foam. I will more than likely get a professional to mount them for me but need some idea of what is required

Thanks very much Matt. I had a look at the site too and it lloks like an awesome photography club - if our local club looked half as active then I'd consider joining ... it's nearly a shame that I'm not in SA (Nearly )
