    Please help me ! D:

    okay, so i have applied for tafe in photoimaging
    and have to create a portfolio of certain images.
    the second photograph requirement is;

    - Formal Portrait (i.e. portrait of a person in his/her surroundings, and where the surroundings shown in the photograph, contribute to the 'narrative' or 'story' of the person)

    I am thinking of using the image attached, can anyone tell me if that fits the requirements?

    Interesting that they call a formal portrait, one showing the surrounds. To me they should have asked for an environmental portrait. Whilst your example is a good photo, it is very hard to tell at the size you have presented it, how good it really is (eye sharpness, focus etc). You can post photo to AP up to 1024 pixels on the longest side, the one you have posted is 320 pixels. Please show us a larger version so we can make a better assessment of the technical qualities.

    Constructive Critique of my photographs is always appreciated

    I don't think it does as the person you have photographed looks like a photographer to me wearing a canon strap so really this isn't about their surroundings ..its a snap. You need to pose the subject with a background that tells us more about the subject
    You can call me Jez

    OK. as the person is supposed to be the main subject here, you have a very soft photo. Photos of people, the focus point should be on their eyes, from what I can see in this photo, probably the sharpest part is the lamb's head. Agree with the above post, that the Canon strap ruins this one. What they are looking for is someone in their element. A butcher in a butcher shop, a farmer tending his cows, a road worker holding a stop/go sign etc, not a photographer playing with a lamb..sorry
