Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR Lens

I am thinking of buying this lens for my backup camera. Any thoughts?

(yes I know 24-70 and 70-200 is a better kit but it's the backup!)

reviews show its pretty sharp... but at that price why not go or a 17-50/2.8 or something similar?

go read some reviews anyhow. from what i gather its sharp and has some distortion at 24mm. its be a good lens tho.

Yep, the body, the usage and the budget probably make that an obvious choice given the positive reviews it has so far.

Did you pull the trigger Amarcord? I'm thinking about one of these. Too new to get any really good reviews though - Nikon shooters tend to be VERY enthusiastic about newly released lenses...
