Comfortable Neck Strap

Can anyone give me some recommendation on purchasing a comfortable camera neck strap, I have a Panasonic G1 and the camera is excellent in build quality, BUT the neck strap it is rubbish, I could have made one out of baling twine that would have been more comfortable, Please help.

also why neck strap? why not get a sling?

Ditto on the Crumpler,I use the Industry Disgrace,can walk around all day with my 7D+100-400mmL on it(over 2Kg)with no problems.

+1 optech - I use the Pro strap (http://www.optechusa.com/product/det...RODUCT_SUB_ID=) as it allows me to quickly remove the neck strap and attach my RStrap (the loop straps feed through my RStarp as a 'backup')


but that said, any neoprene strap that "stretches" will absorbs bumps as you walk and will be more comfy then the ones that usually come with cameras.

I'll put in another vote for the Crumpler Industry Disgrace. Very comfortable, even carrying a heavy lens.

The crumpler gets my vote too, haven't had it for long or used it all day yet but very nice and better than the normal canon strap.

I have an Industry Disgrace - superb!

I have just ordered an R-Strap though - super excited about getting it, the vids on the site look ace!

I think the R-Strap will fit my needs better as I use my 11 month kids as my main subjects, therefore, I need both my hands often to pick them up etc. The Crumpler is flawless but tends to dangle if I lean forwards to pick the munchkins up (and smack them in the head!)

i understand for big lenses, but will it make any diff with a small DSLR and lens combo?

+1 for the crumpler, but I also have a pac-safe one that was given to me for when I go travelling that is slash-proof and it has a very comfortable neck strap also and I feel a bit better about using it when in busy markets etc (although to be fair, this might be a case of placebo effect).

I got my R-strap a couple of weeks ago... superb!!!

Keeps my camera nicely out of harms way and feels totally comfy

Still love my Industry Disgrace, but the R-Strap is certainly winning for me atm!

what i've found with neck straps is that they are always the shorter the better. I had an optech on a Canon film SLR, not too heavy, but it was a pain to wear over long period. Now I have a ordinary cloth strap with no special paddings or neoprene and all that, but I've made it real short so my 5d2 sits just in front of my sternum. It's both easy to reach, less likely to bang into things, and I can walk around all day with a 24-105 attached without killing the neck.
