    CF memory cards

I'm looking to buy a couple of 16g memory cards for my 7d (16gb 600X) I have a feeling that Sandisk have the best reputation and I can get those at $220 each but I see on the web another manufacturer, Wintec Filemate. They are available in 600X 32g on eBay for $109 each.

Is this the case of buyer beware?

    Any advise gratefully received, Mike

eBay cards are notoriously bad - eg 2gb rebadged at 16 and so forth

I have never ever heard of that brand. Just pay a bit more for the Sandisk for peace of mind, since you can register your product and download their Sandisk RescuePro program for file recovery and data corruption too for free, works a treat for me in the past.

Stuffing around to save $50 on a memory card when you've spent $1,000s on camera gear is generally a silly thing to do.
Memory cards are critical to photography - just get the best - not losing a day's shooting is what you're buying.

    I agree with Kym.
Don't bother with eBay unless you are going to deal with a known trader. Look at the site sponsors Quality Cameras and Digital Rev. I've dealt with both and will buy my next Sandisk card from Stu @ Quality Cameras.

memory cards are a fickle beast. 3 things about those cards. I would bet, even if they are 16gb, that it is NOWHERE near 600x speed. I think they pray on people with good cameras who need something fast, but don't have any experience of what 'fast' is exactly.
That and a MAJOR thing, they will very very VERY likely go corrupt on you. I have seen it countless times before through the shop I work at, and you cannot always recover them 100%
    Get Sandisk, be happy
