    Canon 70-200 Tripod mount ring.

I've been looking at tripod mount rings for the 70-200 F4L, the genuine Canon item is obscenely expensive, there are a number of clone items available.

Has anyone had any experience with the clone items? i.e. brands and effectiveness.

I have to agree on the Canon pricing, it's ridiculously over-priced.
This is something Canon need to address, the f2.8 has it included, but you have to fork out more cash if you buy the f4.
I bought one of these for my 70-200 f4L IS http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....m=280437104428 for $9.99 delivered.
Ordered it on 21/8, received it 3/9. It looks and feels exactly the same as the genuine Canon product and I am very happy with it.

I have an eBay Chinese knock off one too and it's fine. The Canon price is insane for a simple casting

Thanks guys, I was hoping someone had bought one as there are a few different designs, one in particular looked as though it may nt clamp as securely.

As I stated in my original post I have BOUGHT one and been using it since September.

Machined Aluminium (NOT plastic as some of them are), clamps securely, well lined to protect the lens barrel, does the job perfectly.

I'm another one who bought a ridiculously cheap knock off from ebay. I've had mine for over 3 years now and it works perfectly. I say get the el-cheapo

    Renae,
Off topic I know, but how have you found the 70-200 f4L with the 1.4x II extender?
    Thanks Mark

I ordered one for my Canon 70-300 L lens from DH Gate (they don't have them any more) and paid $23 delivered. Only received it today and it was a bit hard to fit it to the lens as the felt was just a bit thick. I remembered I had some felt from about 10 years ago still down in the shed and it is a tad thinner, so I ripped the old felt out and fitted the thinner stuff ......... fits nice and easy now.
