    Compatibility of TC's

I have a sigma 70-200 f/2.8 HSM II and its well know that the Sigma 1.4XTC is not compatible with the pentax mounted siggy.I really want to use a TC with this lenses so I do have others, namely
Tamron-F 1.4X Pz AF MC4 98-280mm range has HSM contacts
Pentax F 1.7X 119-340mm range doesnt have HSM contacts
Kenko Pz AF 1.5C Teleplus SHQ 105-300mm range has HSM contacts

    which has better IQ

    cheers

Hi, I have used both the Tamron 1.4 & Siggy 1.4 on my Sigma f4 100-300, the image quality did not appear any different.

    Hope that helps.

Don't know about your specific ones but the siggy 1.4 works better on a siggy than the canon 1.4
    Thanks Steve

Thanks for that kevin.I have tried the 1.4 siggy amd Tamron on my copy 100-300 f/4,but since Im going to the ashes in Sydney thats the need for the 70-200mm f/2.8,any bigger than 200 focal length not allowed.Sigma states that on there website the Sigma 1.4 TC in not compatible with this lenses. So I figure out with the forum resources which would work best ,the tamron ,the kenko or the Pentax TC

    cheers

SIGMA APO TELE CONVERTER 1.4x EX DG for Pentax mount and APO TELE CONVERTER 2x EX DG for Pentax mount are not compatible with lenses epuipped with HSM. Therefore, these Tele Converters cannot be used with the APO 50-150mm F2.8 II EX DC HSM for Pentax mount and APO 70-200mm F2.8 II EX DG MACRO HSM for Pentax mount.

Please refer to the list below for compatibility of Sigma Tele Converters.
APO TELE CONVERTER 1.4x EX DG for Pentax mount

It is possible to use AF
    APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG, APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX
APO 100-300mm F4 EX DG, APO 100-300mm F4 EX IF
    APO 300mm F2.8 EX DG, APO 300mm F2.8 EX

It is only possible to use MF
APO 50-500mm F4-6.3 EX DG, APO 50-500mm F4-6.3 EX RF
APO MACRO 180mm F3.5 EX DG, APO MACRO 180mm F3.5 EX IF
APO TELE MACRO 300mm F4, APO TELE MACRO 400mm F5.6
    APO 500mm F4.5 EX DG, APO 500mm F4.5 EX
    APO 800mm F5.6 EX DG, APO 800mm F5.6 EX
APO TELE CONVERTER 2x EX DG for Pentax mount

It is possible to use AF
    APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG, APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX
    APO 300mm F2.8 EX DG, APO 300mm F2.8 EX

It is only possible to use MF
APO 50-500mm F4-6.3 EX DG, APO 50-500mm F4-6.3 EX RF
APO 100-300mm F4 EX DG, APO 100-300mm F4 EX IF
APO MACRO 180mm F3.5 EX DG, APO MACRO 180mm F3.5 EX IF
APO TELE MACRO 300mm F4, APO TELE MACRO 400mm F5.6
    APO 500mm F4.5 EX DG, APO 500mm F4.5 EX
    APO 800mm F5.6 EX DG, APO 800mm F5.6 EX

Sigma lenses, except hose in the above list, cannot be attached to Sigma Tele Converters. Sigma APO Tele Converter 1.4x and 2x are dedicated to Tele Converter lenses, which should only be used with the above lenses.

Please do not use the APO Tele Converter on top of another APO Tele Converter, or any other kind of converters.

    cheers

    Sorry, I'm not much help.
My only experience is with Canon TC's.
A lot of people don't like the Canon 2X, but I find in good light it's really good, but when it's overcast the IQ does seem to drop off a bit.

I thought there might have been a few more in the pentax family to share but seems not too many are using TC's

    cheers

I have the Kenko TC. It has pretty decent IQ, I use it with a DA*50-135.

The SDM works fine with it.
