    Outdoor with/without Fill

    Guys,

Just recently purchased a 50d & Tamron 17-50 2.8 and lets just say i'm going through the motions of playing and taking a lot of shots of nothing in particular but enjoying just playing with settings and seeing the effect.

On the weekend the kids were heading to a dress up party so i got them out the back and took a number of photos. The sun was high 11am and as can be seen this created quite harsh shadows and therefore i used the flash in the second shot.

I guess just after advice as techniques to avoid this and/or improve shooting in these conditions.

    Thanks in advance

Sorry - I can't see your pics... is it just me, or can others not see them also?

Please don't hesitate to provide me with CC! I'd love to hear your thoughts regarding any of my images. Thanks!

    Linking sorted!

Very cute! Maybe some fill flash to kill the shadows on the face?

your fill flash worked quite well in the second. I guess the main rule is try not to shoot in full sunlight in the middle of the day - if you can help it! Try to find a bit of shade at least, or even invest in a scrim or similiar. If I have to shoot in the middle of the day, I have a 5 in 1 reflector that I use to diffuse the sun coming through - that way all the shadows are even.

    Much easier to work with!
