    Murray River - Echuca

After the last few months of heavy rain the rivers are almost bursting again. It's been something like 17 years since we experienced the last flood, so the high river is a bit of a novelty for locals and visitors alike. We are not in danger of being flooded this year, next year may be different if we have another huge rainfall, especially now that our reservoirs are filling up to a respectable level, the water will have no choice but to travel along the rivers.
#1 is the Murray just upstream of where the Goulburn river meets, it's about one metre short of spilling over.
#2 is from the east boat ramp, the river has been closed to the public while it's so high,
#3 & #4 are from the Echuca-Moama bridge. The Pevensey is so high the skipper would be able to see the deck of the wharf (I will add a photo of how it normally looks)
#5 is from the top deck of the Moama wharf, the other two are under water.

The increase in level is summed up perfectly with the entire height of the PS Adelaide making up difference between shots.

That is one hell of a lot of water, very good to see when it didn't wash too many people out of house and home.

If you remember where we boarded to Emmylou, that area is well under water with a large river gum fallen where the houseboats are usually moured. There must be hundreds of trees that have fallen into the river over the last few weeks.
