Nikon flash output and focus points

I was asked about this recently and did a blog with some tests proving that the flash output can change in certain situations when the focus point is moved

There will be a difference almost always with TTL-BL when the actual focus distance changes which is normal . This particular setting is an isolated incident with regard to the meter leaving the centre and moving to under-exposure simply because of a move in focus points .
