    Samyang 8mm

    Hey everyone, fairly new.
Sorry if this has been posted about before.

Samyang 8mm - What is everyones thoughts on this lens?
I am in the market for a decently priced fisheye within the next 2 weeks to meet a deadline, but this lens almost seems to good to be true?
Paired with a simple Canon 1000d, what are your thoughts?

    Hi Athom,

There are a couple threads on here re fisheyes. I bought this lens a few weeks ago - for the fun, some specific pics, and coz it was cheap (since my next lenses will be comparatively expensive).

This lens has had good reviews. A few of my sample pics are in these threads. I have more of friends at the footy that I haven't posted, but form your own opinion

The image quality isn't bad for the price. There's some glare evident. You'd expect a bit though given the wide capture.

Will be interested to see if you buy and what the results are...

ah, thank you for your reply!
I'm leaning towards it because from what I have seen and read, for the price it seems to be a great lens with the exact effect I am looking for.
I have been in the market for a fisheye for some time now, due to primarily shooting skateboarding. I was recently given the oppurtunity to take it to the next level and shoot for an extremelly big company so I figured what better time to pick one up.

Thanks again for your words, your photos are great!

    Hey athom,
Thanks I'm not sure about great, but interesting to me, definitely! Especially since I'd never used a fisheye before and was just interested in what it could / would do.
Like I said, at the price, you almost can't go wrong with this lens. I looked at quite a few reviews before I took the plunge, and all were extremely positive about it.
Go for it, you're running out of time! Good luck and enjoy
