Anyone tried the new 70-200 2.8 VRII

With a Kenko 1.4 TC wide open at f4 and racked out to 280mm:

can somebody confirm if the lens hood and tripod foot from the VR will fit on the VR II?

i think the VR II hood is not as sturdy and doesn't have a flat end
plus i already have a kirk tripod foot

This was a shot taken in the late evening. The camera had an ISA of 102400, f3.5 1/25 sec at 200mm. The noise is apparent, the image has been shrunk but no other photoshopping has been performed. Not a photo in the calibre of the high standard of the regular contributors but does show the ability of the lens.Attachment 61043

How is the photog going? No dount the D700 is a cracker. Good to see you were able to stump up for the 70-200. Is a stellar lens in either VR 1 or 2. How is the new addition?

Yep Got one.
Worth the price, fast focus, good VR and sharp.
Drawback is that its big and heavy and $$$ but also well build and weather sealed too.
Use a monopod or Tripod when possible.
As lance says it is also sharp and fast too with TC's.
If you require a 2X then make sure you get the 2X TC III as it is designed for use with the 70-200 VR2.
Get one.
