    Nikkor Lens Decision

I have the D300s with the 18-70 kit lens and the 70-300VR.

Have been offered the 35mm F2/D for $150 (almost new) and tried it over the weekend. Pics look good and loved the faster aperature.

How much better would the 35mm F1.8 DX be. Is the extra $200 worth it? Anyone got eitehr lens?

    Thank You

for that kind of money, get the f/2.

if 'ya don't want it in the end, I know someone that does!

35/1.8 is supposedly marginally better, has silent and full-time manual override focusing, but at that price for the f/2, I reckon get it.

I agree with kiwi and AK. 35mm f2D at $150 is a bargain.
Swap u my 35mm f1.dX for it?? Haha jks.
I havn't used the f2D version but one thing going for it is it covers full frame.
So on your DX u use the best middle bit of glass and it's useful on FX if u ever go that direction.
The 1.8DX is very very sharp in the centre but not as good in the corners and noticeble barrel distortion. But it's cheap and light, great lens.

Get the 35/f2, for that price you won't be disappointed.

Right place at right time. Colleague at work who prefers 50mm on his full frame and kindly offered it to me.
