    Canon 17-55mm f2.8 - Sharp at 2.8?

For those that have this lens how have you found it at f2.8?

Is is sharp right across the image (extreme focus points both left and right)?

I'm considering purchasing one but I only want it if it is sharp wide open and all the way across the image.

    Thanks
