Various films

Have any of you used UP 400 plus, panchromatic and infrared films before?
How should i really shoot them?

Are you sure you mean Panchromatic? That's the standard these days for B&W. Shoot as normal!

Do you maybe mean Orthochromatic? That's much less red-sensitive (Red darker, blue lighter, and can be developed in low red light)

and i thought it was something special! hmph!
What about the other films? Do you know much about them?
Cos i know i get a nice grainy effect when i shoot the ilford 3200 at iso800.... so i thought maybe i could get some nice effects with them if i shoot at a different iso?

Can't help with the other stuff I'm afraid. I'm no expert, I learn from the other half but she's on a boat in the Atlantic so no chance of asking her yet

If you like the graininess, I'd recommend getting some Ilford HP5 Plus, but shoot it and develop it as if it was 800 or even 1600 - it gets really contrasty and grainy. I love it! It's also very forgiving

However (!) the best results from pushing come when the pics are printed in the darkroom rather than scanned and printed electronically. If you scan them the results aren't quite so exciting.
