I have been offered this lens ?

I have been offered this lens for $400 what do you think guys do i go for it or not?

    Canon 70-200mm f4 L lens

Has small fault where focusing sometimes sticks at the 2 metre mark. It can be freed by turning the focus ring. If the focus limiting switch is set to the 3 metre to infinity setting the fault does not cause a problem. Otherwise the lens works perfectly, giving very sharp, high quality pictures.
Comes with lens hood, caps and case.

    Manfrotto 055XPROB + 322RC2 + MBAG80P.
Critique is allways welcome, Any help and advise will allways be appreciated.

Seems like the price is good if you can live with the fault. I would guess it would cost heaps to fix so if you're thinking of that with a new one @ $1249.00.

Is it the IS or non IS ?? You can buy the non IS version for about $750 brand new. The one Pete alluded to would be the IS version.

You blokes must be a lot better than I am at finding cheap prices. I get about $1,580 and $1,000

It is always a risk to buy faulty goods as you never know when the fault will suddenly get worse - it happens!

Ah yes -- I forgot. Someone I do not deal with - ever - even though I do go grey market at times.

It is a super duper bargain at that price.
Cheers and best to the purchase!

In my opinion they're brilliant, spent a considerable amount of money with them and have been very happy every single time

that fault is similar to the one I had on the 50 1.4, lasted about 6 months, then the USM broke completely and I cannot focus with it at all, not even MF.

I've been quoted $200 to $300 to fix, so not worth it for my lens, but probably worth it for yours, if you buy it.
    Criticism & Suggestions welcome

well, a little above half price, I have had 2 of these and both hated being switched to the minimum focus mode so this could be all that's wrong with the one you've been offered? On the other hand, I have knowingly bought a Canon lens when the seller warned me that it had an auto-focus problem, thought I would be able to sort it out but in the end no joy
    Buyer beware I think

I've been wrong before!! Happy to have constructive criticism though.Gear used Canon 50D, 7D & 5DMkII plus expensive things hanging off their fronts and of course a "nifty fifty".

It is only a bargain if it works perfectly. At that price I think would be a fare price for a second hand model but needs to operate correctly. What caused the problem? Dropped? Very bitter taste in mouth if it doesn,t turn out OK.
