Want a tripod - but which head?

So my tripod has started to slip in the head, and I'm heading to new zealand in a week, so I figure now's a good time to invest. Looking at getting a Manfrotto 190Xprob - this has the reversible centre column, independant legs, and the column that can switch from vertical to horizontal. Nothing more that I'd need.

With that, I'm tossing up between the 804-RC2 head or the 460MG - the latter is far more compact and seems to be a bit more maneouvrable, but it only holds 3kg compared to 4kg.

So any thoughts on those models? Or any other kit recommendations?

I'm using an EOS 30D, and I have a Sigma 70-200 2.8 lens (don't know how often I'll use it on the tripod, but it's worth keeping in mind - I think that kit comes to about 2kg in total according to the Manfrotto site, but I thought it was more)

Try the Manfrotto 486 RC2. They make a good pair.
It is a light and modest ball head, but very versatile.
The 496 RC2 adds a panoramic locking option for video panning or 360 panoramas, and is much more heavier duty.

I would never go for a head that is rated at less than your tripod.

I have a Manfrotto 391RC2 on my 190XDB and it is a nice little head. Really a 2-way head with a separate lock for panning. The mounting platform swivels and locks so allows for landscape and portrait without moving the camera. In fact you can lock it at any angle you like and goes a little beyond 90 degress. Essentially the same versatility as a 3-way head.

It is rated for 5kg and is a good match for the 190 series.

055 is needed if you are tall.
Don't rely on the centre pole being extended too much (with any 'pod)
You really don't want to have to stoop.
So best is to take your gear and try it in a shop.
