Annoying powerlines how do I photoshop them out?

I've just got photoshop elements 8, are there any easy to follow basic from scratch tut's (and I mean from scratch as I have no idea on PS) or any easy directions to get get rid of powerlines and people from a photo. I've searched for threads but cam up with nothing I've had a play and ended up quite frustrated If you saw my Brighton beach post I have a photo which would look better if I got rid of the lines and people. I think the powerlines are more acheivable for me and perhaps the people more a wish for now! But have no idea how and would like to learn.

Clone stamp with feathering is your friend.
Also gaussian blur.
