Nikkor 85mm f3.5 Micro lens

Hi all,

anyone out there who has Nikkor 85mm f3.5 Micro lens and care to share some sample pics of it?

I am narrowing down my choices of macro lens to this one from tamron 60mm,90mm, nikkor 105mm, nikkor 24-70 semi macro.

those pics taken with tamron 60mm looks really good!

Nikkor 85mm is about 800 while nikkor 105mm is 1000.
Which one is more worth it for a difference of $200

On top of this, i am planning to invest in a good tripod ($300) and flash (used one for $200)
going bankrupt really soon hehe

Updates!!

I am now considering sigma 150mm as opposed to nikkor 105mm.
Read and seen how amazing the photos turn out using sigma 150mm from members in this forum.

One question, has anyone ever shot food with sigma 150mm?
any samples would be great

there is no reason what so ever why you coulnt shoot food with this lens, you just have to stand further away

Went through the same process. Really thought the the sigma 150 was for me but ended up with the nikon 105. Only had it a week but the build quality is pro and really think this is a long term purchase and glad i did at $900 from DWI.

I have a D90 and the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro and find the lens to be both an outstanding macro as well as portrait lens. For the very small price (relatively speaking) I've been extremely happy with the results, sharpness and bokeh. My neighbour has the Nikon 105mm f/2.8 macro which I'll borrow sometime for an extended period and compare to my Tamron. The Nikon certainly felt better built and the AF-S was faster to focus and has the constant manual focus override which the Tamron doesn't (however it's three times the price ).

doubleu151 - couldnt wait to see some amazing pics from your nikkor 105mm. The VR in this lens is a great addition thinking that I will be moving from place to place chasing bees and im not sure how tripod will come into place.

Remorhaz - thanks for your input and yes its almost 3x the price!!! with tamrom 90mm, are you bothered by the slow focusing of it?

There's also the Tokina 100mm macro which I feel outshoots the Nikkor 105. I've got both.
