    I kind'a sort'a used to be.

I used to use my pop's old Omega something-or-other... solid stainless oyster catcher marineboy super gizmo, but it's never worked perfectly, took it to Omega service to sort it, and still never worked. I won;t get rid of tho, it's a classic piece of solid stainless steel.

I've had a few 'interesting' watches over the years, but have now settled on my Suunto Vector since about '97.

I wouldn't call my interest in them a 'fetish' though.

One day I'll get around to capturing the Omega as well as you've done here with yours.

.... but I don't have appropriate lighting, so I'll have to force myself to conjure up some imaginative thinking from the final few brain cells that I think I have remaining.

I love the twist in the band and it's perfectly placed within the frame. I'd have liked to see just a tad more of the great colour and texture in the (leather?) band.

ps. Not long after my motorbike accident, I had an appointment with a specialist about my damaged knee. The date on the Omega was one day forward so I arrived at my appointment 24 and 30mins early! The receptionist thought I was funny, I thought otherwise, so on my way home I stopped at a Paddy Palin store, procured a Suunto replacement watch, and the 50 year old Omega finally retired.

my favourite watches are the ones i've sold unfortunately. my favourite was a 1976 Rolex GMT Master, 1675 model. I sold it about ten years ago, to buy more watches, and now that I want one again, I can't afford it. They've appreciated so much in such a short time.

the band is a Mario Paci in leather. Scroop, I wish this was an old school Italian issue 1944 Kampfschwimmer, but unfortunately it's not an original, much newer.

The 111J is a beautiful watch. Black face/band??

AK, love the Omega's. They are a very nice understated watch, particularly the older seamasters.

Oh I know what you mean, the older Rolex models like GMT and Submariners are fetching crazy prices. I've got a submariner at the moment, but a new model. I've always wanted a GMTIIc but can't afford to have both.

Yeap the 111J is black face with brown leather band, and also comes with a second rubber band which can be added. I have a carbon fiber looking leather band for a sporty kind of look

I was thinking about getting one of those a while back, how are they comfort wise? That was the only thing putting me off, I wasn't sure what the material would be like

i must confess AK, i haven't heard of Suunto before. a quick google and i see they look like a fairly robust watch. Does yours have the altimeter, tachymeter et al?

PS: let's see that Omega pic

they're the business. the straps are nylon, at least the good ones are. the best part is that they have a double loop around the lugs, so if one lug pin falls out, you won't loose your watch, as the band is still looped through the other pin.

I used to wear all the extravagant swiss watches, it's common being swiss and all.. but now a days I don't even wear a watch anymore.. I'm important enough for people to want to wait for me .. ok I was joking on keeping people waiting.. I don't like being late.. nor do I like people rocking up late.. I guess I'm running by swiss clock work

The mobile phone etc has made the wrist watch obsolete for a lot of people. I still wear one, but wouldn't even know what brand it is without looking.

I'm in the same boat here, whilst I have a whole collection I still find myself using my phone quite often to check the time since it allows me to check for messages at the same time. I do wear one every day for work though, as it add's to the image and first impressions are important.

I sometimes think of the watch world to be a whole hobby of its own, almost like stamp collectors and the like

Wow thanks a new 365 theme for me....yes I love watches and never look anywhere else for the time, except in the car! Feel lost without a watch......

Don't have the funds for a lot of watches but I know what I like. If I had the money I can spend loads of money!

And that's just for the times when you aren't sitting in front of a PC, in your car, watching TV or a DVD (my player displays the time on the front)... I haven't worn a watch for years.

I will stick to my trusty water resistant to 100m Seiko because when I am dog paddling out the island bar in the swimming pool at a tropical resort the last thing I want to be doing is trying to get my mobile phone out of my shorts pocket to check whether it is actually time for the bar to open or not.

Mobile phones do work under water don't they?
