Fn Menu - expanding the dynamic range

I have a K20D, and I'm presuming most of the other pentax models have this function. Just wondering if anyone uses it, and if so whats your thoughts? I haven't done any testing with it, but reading the manual it seems interesting, using it makes blow outs less likely.

If anyone uses it, does it work well and does it have any effect on image quality?

I'm heading out for a dawn shoot tomorrow so I think I'll give it a go and see what happens.
    Pentax K20D - Sigma 10-20mmf3.5 - Sigma 18-55mm & 50 - 200mm kits - Pentax A Series 50mm f1.7 - Hoya CPL Filter & Hoya ND8 Filter & Dodgy tripod that does the trick for now!
CC of my photo's is welcome!

from my previous K20D - seemed like yonks ago - you gain 1 stop of DR, but also introduces a bit more noise, since the base ISO will be 200 and not 100, the noise mainly comes from the shadows and dark scenes

this is only good if u shoot jpeg, I would rather keep it on 100ISO and shoot normally and recover blown highlights or reveal more details via the raw conversion process

    What Jackie said above.
Useful sometimes - I usually use it if I have to shoot at ISO 200 or above - 'just in case'
