Hi there,
I'm just wondering if it is possible to change an ink cart half way through a print on the Epson 3800? I know you can on the newer printers like the R1900.... but can't seem to find anything about the 3800?
Thanks
Paul

I doubt it. You have to press buttons to get the cartridge door to open. I would imagine they'd be disabled while it was printing, though I will admit I have never tried. Just out of interest, why would you want to do this?
I'd want to do it if I run out of ink half way through a big print so I don't waste paper and ink on a half done print. I don't really want to change the cartridges when they are 'nearly' empty as it would just be a guess as to how much I need for a larger print.
As a hobbyist I don't really want to waste money on ink that I don't have to.

I find that the nearly empty warning on the 3800 is more than conservative and have produced at least 20 A3 prints since the warning light came on.
As each cartridge costs nearly $100, I wouldnt worry too much about it.
HI Guys no problem I have done it several times and it works perfectly each time
cheers jim
How do you actually do it? Does it just stop mid-print when you open the cartridge door or something?
