Sunrise spots at Coogee or Bondi?

Hi, Im just wanting to shoot as much as possible now that our little Bub is due in 2 months time. Is anyone familiar with Coogee or the Bondi area (Sydney)? Im wanting to catch the sunrise at one of those areas this coming Saturday.

    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Phil

Go down Knotts ave which is on the southern side of Bondi and stop just before Bondi Baths, a great spot for a sweeping view across the beach, and elevated too. You can also walk to the end of Knotts ave and down the stairs to the Bondi/Bronte walk, a great spot looking back onto the beach from the water.

There is also Mermaid rock on the Northern side of Bondi, just turn right into Ramsgate ave from Campbell pde and stop outside the North Bondi SLSC, you can then walk past the kiddies pool, and if the tide is mid to low, keep walking out to the rock shelf looking across the beach towards Knotts Ave and Bondi Baths.

Both locations will give you views of the entire beach width, either N/S from Ramsgate ave, or S/N from Knotts ave, with Knotts ave being better as it is elevated IMHO.

Coogee has a couple of good spots, on the southern side just before Wiley baths is a nice spot, you can also capture the baths as well as sunrise - this is a bit tricky to get too in the dark mind you. There is also a number of argon street/path lights which can add or detract from your composition.

    for example:

The northern side of coogee is a winner imo, just follow the signs to the rock pool, there are steps down to the pool but you can then also rock hop all the way around to the north, this is great for rock scape shots. Its a good location cause its easy to find in teh dark and not too much to trip you up as you find you spot for sunrise.

    for example:

As always beware of teh tides and wave action...

No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.

A lesser-known spot in Coogee is Ivo Rowe Pool, south of the main beach.

Here's an evening image I captured there:
