Long Lens for a Sony A350-DSLR-A,350X

    Hi I have a friend with a A350-DSLR-A,350X

Wants a better longer lens for car races,(spectator) sport and candids, then the kit lens.

    Any suggestions much appreciated.

The two lenses I use most for motorsport are the Minolta 70-210/4 and the Sony 70-300 G. There's also the bigger 70-400 G, although I haven't used one of those. Depends on budget really. Not so sure if they're great for candids though. They'll take a great shot but they're far from inconspicuous lenses.
    Cheers,
    Dave

if no budget, i'll go for 70-200G
if budget concerns, i'll go for 70-300G
    where to look it up?
always a good start on eBay to give you a good idea of its market value.
Then if you want it new, simply google it for best price from an online store who also provide an Australian tax invoice whose supplier is officially by Sony.

nivekeel is right, there isnt a huge choice in Sony and its limited when looking at Sigma also, I use the 70-300G on the A350 body and only recently have discovered its limits when it comes to photographing sports but generally a very reliable lens and when you get it right its a pearler..

Hi.... depends on his budget....... I have the Minolta AF 70-200/2.8 APO G (D) SSM plus a matched 2x that gives me quality shots. Sony have bought out the equivalent lens under their own brand name and I believe these to be about US$1500.00. I use it on my A100 and A350 - magic lens.
    Regards
See it how I saw it.
