Apologies to all
Sorry, I'm aware of that and was just responding what was already in the open forum.
I was completely open and upfront about it.
It was really more of an enquiry as to whether the batteries were still available
Sorry for having caused so much truble
I wasn't aware that responding to something that was already out in the open was going to be breaking the rules.
Again, really sorry about that.

As for rules awareness... please take some time to (re)read the introductory thread your were PM'd when you joined.

It's seriously worth a decent read - it has lots of helpful information

Personally I'd keep it as a prop - after firstly taking it apart to see what makes it tick (or not, in this case).
It'd be a great prop for creative shots, like in an aquarium or something.
Got a fish tank? Turn it into an artificial reef in a fish tank. That would look really cool.
Cheers

I know you believe you understand what you think I said,
But I am not sure you realise that what you heard , is not what I meant

I like the artificial reef in the fish tank idea if you could strip it to give the fish something to swim through and stop potential leeching of metals into the water. Come to think of it I cant believe a 4200 dollar camera isnt weather sealed.

Don't forget that the Canon EOS 5D was released in 2005, well before Canon started offering weather sealing in non-1D-series cameras.
Also, it should be noted that even a 1D would not survive the sort of deluge I experienced. The Canon rep told me that weather sealing is intended to provide protection against rain, not massive deluges.
There's an obvious question - was it insured? I guess not. Send it over to me and I'll throw it into the sea off Cottesloe Beach. They've found some old cannons out there and it might make the Freo Maritime Museum. Sorry -poor joke.http://www.ausphotography.net.au/for...ilies/lol1.gif
Where's the light gorn? Is this photography?!
I'd leave it on a bench it the mall or a park, and then you'd get some good shots of it being whisked away!
Cheers
I can't remember if you lost a lens as well?
Perhaps have it at the bottom of a fish tank blowing bubbles next to the porcelain deep-sea diver and the porcelain treasure-chest.
The mirror can flip up and down with the bubbles.
Daryl.
I would keep it as a prop for a few pranks... give it to a friend and don't do up the neck strap properly so they drop it, leave it sitting out and see how long it takes someone to nick it, or drop it and then say "Oh well, its only money" and walk away... But that's just my sick mind!
You can hang it on your rear view mirror, but it might pull the mirror from it's moorings...
I say re-unite it with its old friend - the sea.
Obviously, they want to be together; who do you think you are to stand in the way of destiny?
