    Manual film lens on 5D2

    Hi all

I'd like to get into back to basics photography, and am doing the rounds on ebay looking for a Olympus OM film SLR. Part of the attraction is I can get some nice prime lens with these cameras, which I think can also be used on the 5D2 with an adaptor.

However, I've been reading up on it and it seems the 5D2 has a larger mirror than other EOS DSLRs and sometimes the mirror can hit the lens, according to cameraquest.com

Does anyone have experience in using an old OM lens on a 5D2? if so have you encountered any problems?

Also, can anyone explain how the aperture priority would work with a manual lens?

    Cheers.

It's been done before without any issues.

I have no idea on what adapter you need.. exactly!.. but do a google search for 16:9 dot com, who have done many reviews of various lenses, some of which have been older Olympus lenses.

I think they also sell adapters.. or at the least will have more info(but I really dunno)

There are plenty of OM to EOS adapters so you shouldn't have much trouble finding a huge range on Evilbay.

To the best of my knowledge, all Olympus Zuiko lenses for the OM bodies work on the 5D2.

See relevant thread here on FM forums.

I use a 50/1.4 and a 135/2.8 but only infrequently as I have lenses which I prefer to either of these. Many Zuiko lenses are available quite cheaply so you can certainly put a reasonable collection together without it cost you the Earth.

The images below are all I have online to link to. They were shot with a 50/1.4 at f2 (on a 1dsmk2).
