Absolute noob Flash Question

I have just purchased a 580EX speedlite and as I have no real idea what I am doing I have decided to read the manual!!

In the manual its says: (Fully Auto Flash shooting)

~ Check that the subject is within the
effective range displayed on the LCD
panel.
~ A preflash is fired right before the shot is
taken, then the main flash is fired.
~> If a standard flash exposure was obtained,
the flash exposure confirmation lamp will
light for about 3 sec.

My question is.... The manual has a diagram that shows the Zoom is 50 mm and down the bottom of the LCD screen of the flash it shows the effective range but this doen't appear on my flash - have I missed something??

Actually - forget I asked this question - I had a fiddle and I worked it out lol... just don't know if I can delete the post!
