    any advice on a canon 1d mk2 n

    hey all,

im currently using a canon 40, i mainly shoot action stuff. just wondering if going to the 1dmk2 n would be a step backwards in the way of quality. i recently tried out the new mk4 in B&H nyc and i loved the 1.3 crop factor, 100% view finder and of course the autofocus ability. considering i dont have a lazy 6 thousand hanging around i did some looking around on the net and saw some stellar reviews on the mk2 n. great auto focus sequences at 8.5 fps, the only concern i have is the 8 mgp. im shooting with all L glass so im not sure the drop of 2 mgp will do much... any advice?

The 1D2n is a fine camera and very well suited for action. Costruction wise, built like a tank and excellent weather seals. Have you considered/looking at the 1D3? 10fps & 10MP. I am still yet to fully explore mine with some quality glass and intend to shoot everything with it.

    any advice on a canon 1d mk2 n

8mp is more than enough for sport, even on my d3 I regularly shoot in dx mode and so have 6mp files, these publish fine and print to 20x30 easily

It's quality not quantity re mp

    How big is your print?
If you are not printing to a huge size, I belive 8MP is sufficient.
And as others says, the build of 1D is much better than 40D

yeah print is mostly for mags so max a4 or a touch bigger. i really am looking for super fast auto focus that is accurate. on the mk3 deal, id rather save for a 4 then go half way and buy a 3 or even look harder at the 7d.

I think 8 MP is sufficient enough for A3 or A4 print.
I am using 1Dmk2N and printing up to A0 is not an issue, unless you used to do a lot of cropping :P

    1Dmk3 should be better...

yeh i try to avoid the old cropping, only used it lately due to the fact i havent got a 300 or 400 so im a touch short on length with my 70-200 shooting baseball. good to hear the mk2 n is doing the job for you sounds like if it can go to A0 than than i should be good. thanks for the input
