    CF card problems

    Hi all,
I'm hoping someone can shed some light on a problem I've encounted, I put in a brand new 16gb lexar CF card into my 5d this morning and when I went to format it, it was only showing it was a 8gb, I reformatted it, but it was still only showing as an 8gb, I ended up using the card and when I got home I uploaded it and all was good, i put it back in the camera and formatted it, again it shows up as a 8gb card, so I put in the 7d and it also shows it's a 8gb, but when I formatted in the 7d, it shows up as a 16gb, put it back in the 5, formatted and shows up as a 8gb
If anyone has any ideas to what could be going on I'd be very grateful.
    Thanks

The 5D probably only has a 8GB limit for the CF cards it can deal with. There may be a firmware upgrade you can apply to the 5D that will overcome this restriction.

A quick google search found this...

It is a known issue that is resolved with a firmware update.

    http://web.canon.jp/imaging/eos5d/eos5d_firmware-e.html

It is issue #1 on the fixed issues list.

Edit: or if you prefer the USA site:

Thanks heaps guys, I was on the canon site, but downloading the the raw codec update was as far as I got before I had to go out for a while, but I've just finished updating the firmware and all is perfect.
    Again, a big thanks guys
