    World Pentax Day

Today is World Pentax Day, in spite of what my K20 says. I thought since I'm way south, and NZ isn't far from the date line, I'd try for an early picture.
Sunrise was cancelled due to lack of interest, but I got this picture at the end of Highway 1 in Bluff, the southernmost town.

Gees Stan, how did you manage to keep world Pentax day a secret from Kym?

I will do my bit to honour the brand and screw an Ashai lens on to the Nikon and post here later.

I heard about it through Pentax Forums; a site worth joining. I'd like to see your contrubution here.
I must have been up early; my picture is the first on up on the Forum.

Well, you are at the earliest part of the 17th over there. I guess nobody on Chatham Islands owns a Pentax.

If you have a look at some of my recent posts titled "M42 adapter and old lenses" parts 1 -4 you can see the results of me mucking around with some old screw mount lenses from an old spotmatic mated to a Nikon body.

I ran out of time for much creative but I stuck a Pentax 55mm 1.8 on the D200 and targeted a boat at the local jetty. I have no idea what year the lens was produced in but it still holds up well I reckon.

Let's call the series, "Today's technology meets old world imaging"

It's good to see the results of our local Pentax Day.
I@M; your 55mm lens could date back to the Fifties. I'm looking for one of those early Takumars for my camera family.
