    Question Understanding flash

    I need help with making better use of the features of a Canon Speedlite 580II flash.
    Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

    Pete has given you THE site. A word of advice though - don't just read it. Actually take the time to do the exercises, and in about a week you'll be able to take a fairly stunning portrait with either a bounced flash on the camera or a $30 shoot through umbrella and a stand.

    I agree with all of the above, it really is an amazing site.

    Lighting 102 along with all of the assignments is the way to go.

    Ah ha! So this is your secret to your excellent lighting skills Tony?
    Im getting a decent flash soon for my birthday and hopefully a YN-460II as a slave so ill need to learn how to use it properly. This is the kind of site I need and I actually think I did bookmark it ages ago for future reference. Cant wait
