Cheap Wireless Triggers

Afternoon all,

I just scored myself a 430EXII for $275 and am now thinking about a wireless flash trigger to go with it.

I've got a 50D (if that counts for anything?)

I'm very new to using a flash and as yet have only played with a diffuser on my pop up flash.

I'm not after anything fancy and to be honest am not even sure of what features I want / need?

I really just wont something that will allow me to move the flash around a bit, I mostly play with water photography, small product type pictures etc and will likely have the flash mounted to the camera when photographing the bubs when it finally arrives.

Any suggestions / points to think about /etc would be muchly appreciated

i got hold of a cactus v4 two weeks ago and studio flashes arrived today, it works withthose as well as my 430EX, just be sure to change the batteries, theres also another one called youngong of something, someone else should pop along and say something there butthe cactus ones working fine for me on the 450D

Craggles, track down a set of yong nuo triggers, they work very well and have the advantage that they can also be used as a wireless remote shutter trigger as well.

I agree with Andrew above, track down a set of Yongnuo RF-602 triggers. I got a trigger and 3 recievers from ebay for around $80 from Hong Kong. Never had any problems or misfires with them.

Being able to trigger them remotely makes me want to sell the Cactus v4's even though they're only a few months old.

Just as an example here, if I have two strobes off camera, and the camera on a tripod, I can go for a walk 10m away and trigger everything with a remote?

No. You need two triggers, one in your hand for the camera shutter, with a receiver linked by cable to the camera, the other for the flash in the camera hotshot

Wow!! Where did you score the 430EX II for $275?? Was it on Ebay?? If so did you bid or buy outright, sorry to ask so many questions but I am in the market for one myself and haven't seen them anywhere for that price.

Its not new, 7 months old, still got warranty till end of august but was pretty happy with $275 to my door.

Coolie 21, thanks heaps for that site, had not seen that one before looks really good, think I found my supplier for my flash
