    Sharpness Test

    Is your photo "sharp", not too sure ?

    Post an example here - the ONLY thing assessed is sharpness at the focus point

    How are you judging the sharpness btw Darren?

    BTW i thought for a 5mm creature that not bad round the head

    did you tell me you focussed on the head ? even so, its not critically sharp imho

    I can only assess the image in totality

    hmm, looks to me, IMO that the focus point was the rock under the beetle?

    Well i thought I had it on the head but he was moving lol - i only use single point AF so its around the head somewhere lol

    Many thanks. This was an experiment in using a fast lens. Controlling the DOF is more finicky than I thought!

    Top one (crop) is brilliant focus- no problem. Skin texture and colour show up so well - terrific.

    Answer: Of course it is sharp - wonderfully sharp - I like sharp. But can't gauge the sharpness of the eye.
