    Canon RS-80N3 ? TC-80N3 (for timer functionality).

Or a cheap knock-off - I use a Micnova timer remote with the Canon N3 connector.

There's a knockoff of the TC-80N3 marketed under several brand names, I have one branded "Aputure" (forgive the chinglish), cost a fraction of the TC80-N3 and is every bit as good. Here's a link for one supplier cost $23.99 plus postage currently out of stock. If you hunt around you'll probably find an HK ebay supplier with free freight.

I have the same brand from the same supplier in a wired remote for my 400D, 3 years and no problems . I also have a wireless remote (same brand) for my 7D, haven't tried this yet but have never had any problems with gear from this supplier.

The knockoffs are good quality. I have a Phottix wireless remote, and recently got a timer remote. Both of them are very good for the price.

okay, another issue I've just found looking on ebay is.

    Cleon I Wireless Remote C8 for Canon 30D 40D 50D 7D

    Plato Wireless Remote C8 for Canon 1D 1Ds II III 5D 7D

    what's the difference besides price?

all I need is something that will allow me to take hold bulb open and close it.
