How those different metering modes work

I have often wondered about the different metering modes, particularly the difference between evaluative and centre weighted average. The manuals don't explain it well at all.

I found this article which explains and shows it very well.

Feel free to add any advice or tips to help demistify the metering modes mystery!

    Thanks Etherial

I am with you. The manuals are not much help with this.
Canon 50D, Assortment of lenses that I will list here sometime soon.
