    Faulty External Case?

Got a new case and HDD the other day. Installed it and powered up, but nothing happens. I suspect a faulty case.

I have done some troubleshooting to make sure it was the case and not the new hard drive.

    1. Installed new HDD into case, powered up and blue LED light flashes but the drive does not spin up/nothing at all happens/silence

    2. I took the new HDD out of the suspected new faulty case and put it in another external case enclosure I own and upon turning on the HDD boots up fine.

    3. I put another old drive in the suspected faulty case, and it does not power up at all either.

Does it sound like it's the external case at fault?

Yes. Is it one of those cheapish chinese no name cases? If so, double yes.

This happened to my external hard drive. And it's not a cheapish one. It can happen to anyone.

As soon as I took it out of the case it worked fine.
