    Stealing Souls

Another day on the street. I must admit that I was really off the ball, wandering around aimlessly and loaded on painkillers, shooting out of focus without thinking. I am still torn up from months of coughing (literally). Everything hurts. Though it was still exciting as always.

The only one that really speaks to me is the girl with the map.
Sorry to say it - the one after is OOF and just 'orrible
The one after that (bloke with long dark hair) would be ok if it was a bit more in focus
The one with the bloke's back of head is ok; but OOF and that does not help.

I love street ...and love helping too and I have a lot of sympathy for you being unwell...

From behind all value is lost unless there is a purpose, otherwise its sneaking up on the innocent. If I see something and Im behind the action ...I go "Oh well". The girls with map, man from Welcome Back Kotter, and big and little all had potential and see what attracted you to them but unless a really cute bum is on offer then all is lost.

The old dears, bless them but it clear that she wants to fill you full of cake, watch out, I know that look. I would suspect that she volunteered the shot so then you took it. I even think it important that our 'vintage' friends be included in street pics ...they are in my mind treasures and should not be excluded even though some think them no longer relevant. When I am vintage Im going to wear a mickey mouse T-Shirt and give all the pretty girls a boiled lollie (from my pocket no less). My reference here is not some distinction on age but rather that if a younger hip ipod youth reads this comment that he or she is snapped back into reality ...its not all about you kids you know.

The first pic, is he hiding his face from you or telling you how big your willy is? The tree is a problem though and the DOF does not do anything to seperate the subject from the background. DOF is a problem in others too, the map, the tie-man in front of the PO, actually I would sat DOF is the problem in all of them even the DOF pic of the phonebooks wasnt open up (wide) enough.

The fellow in front of the PO is very scary and the next one is the stuff of nightmares, the subjects not the photos I mean. But again the 50 is chopping things up a bit.
I wonder if the 5cm is a bit long and that these might have been more dramatic at say 2.8cm or 3.5cm

The last pic was lacking the good print drying ...would have been a muche better pic if there was a print on the clip ...I'd do that one again, and get a bit more light, just a bit, in through the window ...maybe even open it a bit.

Hope I helped ...and stop that bloody coughing, have a cigarette, that'll fix it.

As you know, Mongo is not the brightest. What is a "sock" in this context ???

I wont be post my photos here anymore.

kym, I am just sharing what I photograph. I am not particularly interested in people telling how me I missed focus or composition. Street with an all manual camera is perfect for me personally since I have seconds to react and photograph subjects, surely on my first 100 rolls I wont be decent.

The one after that (bloke with long dark hair) would be ok if it was a bit more in focus
Its common to say that content is more important than sharpness in a street photo. Telling me that it would have been better if my lens barrel was turned 5 degrees to the right is just annoying. I am sharing my progress, obviously. The good and bad.

ONEant, I have no ####ing idea what you are saying. In the third paragraph I only understand (or care to try) this,

I would suspect that she volunteered the shot so then you took it.
No I walked up and took it

The first pic, is he hiding his face from you or telling you how big your willy is? The tree is a problem though and the DOF does not do anything to seperate the subject from the background. DOF is a problem in others too, the map, the tie-man in front of the PO, actually I would sat DOF is the problem in all of them even the DOF pic of the phonebooks wasnt open up (wide) enough.
Tree man can do whatever he wants, shot at f1.4 - "the tree is a problem" REALLY, are you serious. I don't think you understand what I am doing. Next time I'll avoid trees.

    Map was shot at f/2.8
Tie man f/8 (zone focused for distant not close subjects)
    Phonebooks f/1.4

Sorry man I'll get a noctilux 0.95 and make you happy with some real shallow dof, for now I have to live with this pedestrian 1.4.

The last pic was lacking the good print drying ...would have been a muche better pic if there was a print on the clip ...I'd do that one again, and get a bit more light, just a bit, in through the window ...maybe even open it a bit.
Ok next time I'll tell the sun to be brighter, eh. The curtains were drawn.

    Thanks for looking and commenting.

I think that attitude just about sums up your personality perfectly Krzys!!

So, you're keen to go head kicking other peoples images, but you don't want to face the music yourself??

    Alternatively, you have two options:

1: post in the not for critique section if you don't want constructive comments on your images.

    2: the Ostrich theory.

is there any reason to believe that constructive commentary is bad for your photography?

and don't fret.. Oneant is no longer with us, they'll bother you no more!

I made that post and others as a direct response to his comments. If you are going to try and bring me down then check the timestamps. Seems people like to trawl though other areas of data.

is there any reason to believe that constructive commentary is bad for your photography?
Because it is not constructive for this style. All I can do is practice since I half a second of less to take the photo. Critique me on content not technique, that is my business. Telling me that I should have taken that shot with a 28mm lens is useless. If I could freeze time I'd change lenses then, after I bought it though.

Why would I do it for money. The mindset of 'you have a hobby - do it for money' sickens me.

Why? If you're looking for approval you'll soon know if you don't get paid. Otherwise just accept the opinion of others or simply don't post pictures.

Because my hobby is for my fun, for me to take at my pace and please myself. Not others. I don't want the burden of a schedule and expected result. I am not looking for approval. I am just sharing because photos interest me and when others share I am interested in their photos. I accept the opinion of others, it's just that ONEant was talking absolute crap. I am posting my most interesting results from the day, not my best results from the day. That includes mistakes.
