Mallee Landscapes

A few from my travels in the last week.















All shot with Leica Summilux-M 1.4/35mm ASPH, Fuji Neopan Acros, developed in Diafine.

Very interesting set Tom. Mongo Loves #2 and also particularly likes #1 which tends to look like it would have if it were taken on infrared film.

#3 is also very good and would lend itself to some serious/extreme PP work (as would #2)

yeah I agree with Mongo, interesting series, I like each for different reasons. #2 looks like it could have been taken in the American Dustbowl in the 20's.

nice series Tom. Love the first three...those abandoned buildings are always really interesting. Love the grassy slope shot too...makes you think about whats down that slope.

B&W works well for these TOM. Suits the landscape well.

Where these done with any filtering?

Thanks for the kind remarks. Hoffy, most of these were filtered with a red filter. there are some where i would have like to use a yellow or orange, but i've changed my 35mm lens and it is now a 46mm thread. all my filters are 39mm and I can't find the new ones atm. i like the red filter effects, but it is easily overdone.

An interesting set, but I'm kinda disappointed as I don't see any mallee anywhere in these shots?

not a huge fan of the mallee tree, probably because i've been surrounded by them my whole life. but all these shots were taken in the murray mallee region.

LOL. A very nice series Tom, mallee trees notwithstanding. They are all very appealing and all for different reasons. I like the last one, the vinyards, very much.

#3 for me - love the detail in the foreground, although the bleakness in #2 works really well too.

just a quick question in regards to your malle tree series
image nr 2
house and all that stuff stacked against the house
how you create this effect of focus in specific area of image where the wheel thing is most sharp and nicely lit ?
it gives illusion that this part of image almost physically stand out of the image, very dynamic effect
I love it!
is this your original shot been focused on this area well or is this photo-shop process of relighting and selective focus by digital filter and/or sharpness brush
I notice vignetting effect as well
