    Anyone recognise this fly?

I saw this marvellous little fly last weekend and just had to grab the camera & take its portrait. I've never seen this little fellow around in Tassie before, the green on his bottom continues in a solid colour on the underside. Can anyone identify it?

my gear: Canon 500D, Canon 18-200mm, Canon f1.4 50mm, Tamron F2.8 90mm Macro, Speedlite, tripod, remote release.

    Can anyone identify this fly?

I saw this pretty fly last weekend & of course had to take his picture. It's amazing looking, the green on its bottom continues underside into a solid green. It was very shy & preferred to walk away from the camera rather than fly away.
I haven't seen this one in Tassie before. Does anyone recognise it?

Not 100% sure but it looks like a type of soldier fly (Stratiomyidae).

You might find something similar here - http://www.diptera.info/photogallery...=48&rowstart=0

that's a good site Leigh thanks.
After looking, it might be Odontomia Ornata? - the ones pictured have the strongest resemblance to my fly.
