I have the 50D plus the Lumix FZ35 which is great because its a bit smaller but still has alot of the options of a DSLR, just not as good quality.

I have a Lumix FZ1 to take on the kayak instead of my DSLR. Takes some very good photos for a p&s especially underwater.

As a backup to my DSLR I have a Lumix Lx3 P&S and am very pleased with the Image Quality I get from it.

Love my Lumix LX3 totally given up taking DSLR gear on OS holidays It shoots RAW fits in my pocket and dosn't take over the holiday like the DSLR did. The LX3 has a nice selection of UV filters can take HD video . Best part is f2 lens

I've got my D50 which I use most of the time + 3 waterproof Olympus mju's (mine, hers and the kids!) that are used in the pool, and when the D50 is too big.

have to say it freaks you out the first time you drop one of the waterproof compacts into a pool - it just doesn's seem 'right'.

I use a Ricoh GX200 with the Electronic Viewfinder Accessory. This camera for me was the bridge between a "normal" P&S and a DSLR.

Rick I love this idea... i have been a keen photo person for many years with only the Point and shoot camera but used every function on it to get the best of what i had out of it.
of course longing and yearning for a DSLR. but i have a lot to be thankful for it ..
after seeing my nephew with a fancy cam this weekend and had no idea how to use it ..long story and love to share in another link

I have a cannon point and shoot and love it ( but kids mainly use now)
my Dad's old Pentax SLR that he gave to me with many lenses before he died
and of course my new precious Nikon DSLR.

Constructive Critique and editing of my images is welcome and appreciated.

I am beginner at best with photography, if I could only have one camera it would have to be my p&s, to pack and lug my dslr and all the gear is a pain at times, when I can just throw my little ixus in the pocket. Just don't tell my girlfriend there is a way to get me to stop buying camera gear!!

With that said, I use my dslr 70% of the time, the p&s is just convenient, but there is nothing worse then getting somewhere and wishing you had lugged all the gear.

    I have both
But since I have bought my DSLR I havn't touched the P&S
Although it is still handy to have for those late night occasions when the DSLR may be in danger

P&S is essential and convenient. I shot most with Lumix LX3 while heavier DSLR is appropriate when speed is needed.

Both. P & S Canon Ixus. This is for general everyday use and the dslr is when I go somewhere special.

    DSLR & the P & S. Have a Lumix TZ2, haven't really used the p&s since I got the DSLR.

A few times I have taken the DSLR out to places - I have found it intimidates people a little bit although I have been mainly using it to take pics of friend's little ones.

Currently I own a Nikon DSLR and a Sony T90 P&S and yes! I use both.
I love the P&S for the fact that you can capture the REALLY unexpected shots of your kids wherever you are!! (my P&S lives in my handbag)

I use both. A P&S is great to throw in your pocket for the unexpected, and when you want to travel light.

For a while I got into the habit of using nothing but the P&S. Then after a surprising time I picked up my DSLR. Euphoria flooded through me as I looked through the large, bright viewfinder, and reeled off a few shots. Sounds a bit weird, but that's what happened.
