    Windows 7 64bit run CS3 & Lightroom 2

    Hi Everyone.
Will Windows 7 64 bit run CS3 and Lightroom 2? Have searched Adobe site and cannot find an answer the the 64 bit part of the question.
    Thanks.

In the November 2009 APC Magazine (edition hilighting Win 7), it says on p68...
"...Backward Compatibility... Most 32-bit applications will work with 64-bit Windows 7... [but] 32-bit drivers won't work with 64-bit Windows 7..."

Here's a link to APC, bit I haven't searched the article on-line. Am...

A little of subject but if you buy the Full Windows 7 you get both 32 and 64 on the same disk.

i'm running CS4 and Lightroom 2.5 on 64bit windows vista. From memory there was little on the adobe website about it when i purchased. The installers chose the 64bit versions when i ran them.

I've just upgraded from Vista 64 bit to Win 7pro 64 bit and can confirm both CS4 and Lightroom will run in 64 bit. Once you have them loaded and activated download the latest updates.

Just something for those using them. The Nik Software plugins will not work with the 64bit installations of PS or Lightroom.

But you can run photoshop in 32bit mode inside a 64 bit installation and they will work. There is more information on this page about issues with the Nik Software plugins for both Mac and PC. This is something I will have to deal with later this week when my new PC arrives.

There's a lot of known bugs running CS3 with Vista 64, I can not imagine Windows 7 64 will be anymore successful.

Forgot to add, all the Canon Apps, DPP, zoombrowser etc are available in 64 bit versions for download from the Canon Website.

Thanks AM. Got the APC mag and had a good read this morning. What a great mag. lots of info and a very big help with Windows 7 64bit.

Thanks to everyone else who answered.

Lightroom 2 will run with Windows 7 64 bit
CS3 will not run with Windows 7 64 bit but CS4 will
Epson multifunction printers TX710W will run with Windows 7 64 bit

If this is not correct in any way please let me know.

I have done so much reading on 64 bit applications in the last two days I probably know more than SOME PC builders (after talking to heaps in the last week). Scary.

Have been wondering the same thing as I am about to update my sytstem...

Many have success with CS4 under x64 but a google search reveals some people having some issues.

It can be a little tricky to get the scanning functions on your Epson multifunction to work - the trick is to use the Epson drivers and not the Win 7. Unfortunately I didn't save the link but it didn't take long with google to (a) find the right drivers; and (b) get the sequence right of installing / uninstalling drivers.

    You get 2 discs, 1 x 32bit version and 1 x 64bit version.

Lightroom runs fine on Win 7 64bit, Adobe are well prepared for this.

I have both 32bit and 64bit CS4 installed as some plug-ins don't work under 64bit CS4 (bloody Nik software), annoyingly. I'll usually just use the 64bit install and switch to CS4 32bit should I really need one of the other plug-ins. My noise reduction app (NoiseNinja) which is my most used plug-in, has an x64 version, so that's cool.
Yep, that is my plan too., both version (64/32) install by default. So will use the 32 bit version for my Nik Software plugins

Rick, should I install both with Lightroom 2?

I installed Lightroom 2.5 (which just detected new system as 64bit and did that version) and then did PS, and it installed both without me being asked/needing to say I wanted both. In the menu it has Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64bit) and Adobe Photoshop CS4, so I just pick whichever one i want

One must also note that it's "human behaviour" to complain when there's a problem and not say much when everything works...

How hard is it to change from 32 to 64 bit Win 7 OS's (i think that makes sense). That is if I install 64bit and CS3 doesn't work how hard is it to change to 32bit?

I installed Win7 64-bit on my laptop last night. Adobe CS3 and Lightroom 2 both work. Adobe Fireworks is a bit buggy but PS, DW, Br, Premiere all work fine.
