Canon point & shoot IXUS

Hey guys and girls,

My sisters got some sort of issue with her canon ixus.

Whilst in capturing mode, the camera seems to look clear. However after you've taken the photo the picture becomes extremely grainy, and it looks like there's a faded static TV look to the image. To describe the grains, it looks like there's a lot of lines running horizontally to the screen. This is only after the image has been taken.

Anyone know how to fix this or is this going into the bin for her?

Which IXUS model exactly? I vaguely remember there was a recall for one of the IXUS with such a problem.
