    Portrait techniques.

This section seemed as good as any to post hints/tips (links) to what I think is a handy addition to any photographers knowledge "TECHNIQUE"
(....AND NO!! I'M NOT SUGGESTING ANYTHING! )

I certainly don't consider myself knowledgeable enough to make any 'informed' CC, or to hand out any lessons on techniques. I'll post links to people I think that may!
Knowing what is "classical" technique is always handy, and hey! may even produce the odd great photo every now and then
using these tips regularly may hopefully become second nature, and help in producing better shots!

here's my first link to portrait techniques...if you're interested.
(beats paying huge $ for a course to learn some basics!)

I'll add more, as I find them!

    You and me both!!

I'd like to be able to take better portraits too....I usually just snap away....trigger happy kind of snapping!

Hey, it's digital after all!! ......delete, delete, delete.....Oh! one good shot!

I'm going to 'force myself" to try some portrait techniques, just to have that ability as second nature!

(I think I'm wearing out the delete button on the D70s )

Here is one hint that I can give you Gypsy....

Have Craigus get you a 50mm f/1.8 lens for that camera.

The reason for that is an excellent available light lens, it is much sharper than the kit lens you currently have, and also it provides and excellent DOF especially for outside portraiture.

    Definately a +1 to that.

It is also the cheapest lens that canon make! It really gives you a great taste to the capabilities of prime lenses.

I reckon the 70-200/2.8 would make a better portrait lens!

(hey Craig, you can thank me later )

I agree that the 70-200 will be a better lens as zoom will help isolote the subject more from the background.
