Angle of Laptop Screens

Mongo is using a laptop with a very good screen for AP purposes.

As you all know the angle of the screen is critical to the light/darkness and contrast of the image on the screen. Sometimes Mongo has posted stuff not sure if these elements are correct due to the varying angle of the screen from time to time.

Question: How do you know when the screen angle is correct to give you an accurate image and view of what others will see on their screens?? Mongo speculates it may be correct when the screen is viewed at 90 degrees but is not sure.

Depends on the screen. Most laptop screens are TN screens. If you move sideways from a direct front view and at around 45 degrees you see a serious degradation on the visible quality of the image on your screen, then you have a TN screen. These are cheap, and low quality LCD panels.More info here on Panel types. So yes if you have a TN panel, the optimal viewing is directly in front and 90 degrees straight out from the screen.
