1000watt hologen flood lights

im not sure if i should have posted in here.

i have borrowed a set of 1000watt hologen flood lights ..on a stand as pictured below right, and i wanted to do some lighting shots weather it been outside or if i make a DIY light box. any ideas what i should do? and pointers please im a virgin at this.

A late reply I know but a reply none the less.

This is my set up too. I've got some good results but its nowhere near as much light as I'd hoped for. There's way more heat than light lol. You still have to shoot low shutter speeds. I've made up a frame to hang a white sheet over them (not to close though, lots of heat remember) to defuse the light some.

I've got a set of these in the garage and are really tough to use for portraits being so direct. They case harsh lighting and hot spots. I found good use for them, fill light for backgrounds.

As long as you remember they do not match the color temperature of a studio flash...

Anyway, as many others, I've tried using these lamps too. They generate a lot of heat, the color temperature is not stable and the light it creates is not even, some parts get more light than others, they sure take a lot of energy and last but not least you'll still end up with long exposure times. These things are very good for what they're meant for, but not for photographic use.
