    Adobe Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 UPDATE

A new update is available now for CS4 which will bring it up to v11.0.1

    February 24, 2009
The Adobe® Photoshop® CS4 11.0.1 update addresses a number of issues discovered after Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop CS4 Extended (11.0) software were released. The most significant fixes in the Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 update include the following:

    * A number of issues that could cause slow performance have been addressed.
    * Pen barrel rotation with Wacom tablets now works correctly.
    * Photoshop now correctly recognizes 3D textures edited by a plug-in.
    * The quality of the results of Auto-Blend Layers (Stack Images) has been improved.
    * A problem that could result in a crash when pasting formatted text has been fixed.
    * A crash that could result from a corrupt font no longer occurs.
    * A number of issues that could cause slow performance have been addressed.
Here's hoping the above addresses the brush/clone/heal lag experienced by some people (myself included) without the need for quick and dirty registry edits.

Ran the updates about an hour ago. Did not resolve my brush tool issue. Admittedly I had not tried to resolve it before now. Updated drivers for my graphics card, and that has fixed it for me.

I note that Adobe now say if updating the driver doesn't fix it, do this:

    Open Photoshop
    1. Close all image windows.
    2. Deselect Enable OpenGL Drawing in Photoshop > Preferences > Performance (Mac OS) or Edit > Preferences > Performance (Windows).
    3. Reopen your images.

The update seems to have fixed things for me (Mac) my problem was turning the little box 'size' in the brush dialog box off, the default was set to pressure! Quite a few things that are different but I really like on the whole. Margaret

Ok, updated both graphics driver ATI 4850 and CS4.
I did not have major issues before - brush was lagging a little - but is noticeably better now.
