How do i get a decent self portrait?

Without a remote release how would one suggest taking a self portrait? I am required to take 2 self portraits, along with 10 other type of shots, as part of my studies and am really unsure how to do it...really dont like the idea of photographing myself lol
    Kind Regards, Deb
