Luminosity based slection for noise removal, anyone know how?

Ok this may sound complicated but for the experienced PS user it should sound ok.

It's easy to make a selection based on Luminosity in CS3..... Ctrl + RGB will select all brighter pixels, and inverting the selection selects all the darker pixels....

....... this is where I get stuck........

I want to apply Noise Ninja to those darker pizels to remove any noise that is there, but even with that selection highlighted Noise Ninja still applies noise reduction to the entire image.

Does anybody know how to restrict the noise reduction to just the dark pixels highlighted?

    Any help appreciated.

Well Nicholas I'm going to jump in here without doing my research and say that you need to make the light selection a mask so that they are not effected, this might involve having the dark selection on another layer. I'll have a hunt around, I know I've seen it somewhere and from memory I think that's the way to go. someone more practised in CS3 should come a long with a definitive reply. Good luck and an interesting question. If I find it I'll post the link

I'll play around with it tonight if I have time and see if it can work your way.
