    Hoya Filters?

Anyone know the difference between the green label filters and their purple label ones?

I've heard it said that the Green ones are of lesser quality and made in the Phillipines... the Purple ones are made in Japan.

the PRO1 are a step up again... you can get them in either Hoya or Kenko

    Damn!

I think you're right, maybe too much info overload or something??

As always price is usually a gauge as to the quality.

I just got me a purple one anyhow!

Pmack just helped me immensely with his experience. He commented that one of my photos looked blurry and asked if I had a HOYA CPL on when I took it with my 400D and 10-22mm because he had had a similar problem. I then took the following photos with and without the CPL 77mm in the green box and made in the Phillippines. And yes, the filter was clean! I have just cropped them down to about the size for this site and upoaded that, rather than resizing the whole photo. It's obvious which is which. I am now rather peed off that all my photos with that combination are sub-standard because of the crappy HOYA product. Does anyone know if HOYA stands behind their product or are we just supposed to know that the green label is crap?

The purple filters are also better suited for wide angle lens as the frame is thinner,
