If not Aust Photgraphy, then where?

I do hope the the forum can stay afloat. I personally do not have the time, skill nor most importantly, the dedication to take it on.

If the forum does go dark soon, where do we go?

I've been on and off Cambridge in Colour for years but no other (quality) forums come to mind.
    Canon 5Ds, 16-35mm F4 L, 24-105mm F4 L.

^ That is because you're right!

AP is now unique. Even DPR (new owners notwithstanding) is of a different character.

So the answer would be, You know - nowhere else

There's a stalwart group here, yourself being one of them, who keep it going.
    CC, Image editing OK.

I hope the forum sticks around! I don't get to be here nearly as much as I used to be, or as I'd like to be, but I always like to check in when I can. Is there a danger of it disappearing? I'm only a member of two forums on the net (the other one being a music one) and both have had the same trajectory over the past decade or so, as I'm sure all forums web-wide have had, but I still like to visit, like I say, when possible.

And there's definitely no Plan B for me either if not here...

There are some groups using Facebook as a platform. I was invited to join one and did so, and post regularly. This group has some eccellent photographers partipating. There is little cc offered, and few comments, mainly just the simple easy like thumbs up.
Sadly it is a sign of the times where folk think they are busy and avoid conversation, as with "texting".
    regards marty

I've tried FB a number of times and ended closing my account each time. I'm not addicted to or in any way interested in these social media platforms. Maybe I'm an outlier.......

I did toy with a facebook forum some time ago. As you said, little to no cc. Also there was no seperation of, nor ability to recall, topics
